I spent years inside agencies, doing the work across thousands of projects. Writing strategies. Building communication plans. Producing content across every format and channel.

For a long time, I believed that was enough.

Then I started watching what happened after the work left the building.

The communications plans I'd poured months into would land flat. Not because the strategy was poor or the creative was weak, but because the people responsible for delivering them had never been brought into the thinking behind them. Campaigns would launch into organizations where the frontline team had no idea why it mattered, what problem it was solving, or how their work connected to any of it.

I watched high-performing teammates disengage, not because they lacked talent or drive, but because no one had made them feel like their work was connected to something larger. And the customer, the person at the other end of all of it, felt that gap every single time.

Then the AI content wave hit, and the volume problem became a flood. Now everyone has access to infinite content. Fast, cheap, technically competent, completely hollow. Filling feeds and inboxes with noise dressed up as communication. No strategic backbone. No connection to the people it was supposed to move.

That forced a more important question for me. Not what am I making? But what is all of this supposed to do?

The answer was the one I couldn't unsee. Communication only works when it's felt by the right people, in the right way, at the right moment. Your attention and your time are your most precious assets. So is your customer's. So is your team member's. And the only way to honor that is to build communication that's genuinely connected. To a strategy. To a purpose. To the people on both ends of the exchange.

Top down. Bottom up. Outside in. Inside out.

That's the only honest way to build a business that doesn't just have a strategy, but one that actually delivers on it.
